Starring Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack, the Disney movie is going to take over theatres in June 2026. The Pixar franchise has expanded the Toy Story universe and produced another sequel after seven years.
The synopsis gives further clarity on what to expect from the movie. It reads, “Lilypad, a high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee that makes Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs exponentially harder when they go head to head with the all-new threat to playtime.”
The newly arrived toy is an “all-new threat to playtime.” The tagline for the sequel reads “the age of toys is over”. Co-directions Andrew Stanton and McKenna Harris remarkded the movie to ensure a “playfully antagonistic tone”. Director Stanton has handled other successful projects such as Finding Nemo and Wall-E.
Moreover, the directors expressed their excitement for the release saying, “It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences.”
The anticipation for Walt Disney’s Toy Story 5 movie remains high since the last one was a major hit. Last season, Toy Story 4 hit theaters in 2019 and surpassed $1 billion at the global box office. Moreover, it won Oscar for best animated feature.
