Pakistan condemns expulsion of diplomats from India

2 officials of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi have been ordered to leave the country within 24 hours after they were declared “persona non grata”.

The Foreign Office has strongly condemned India`s move to expel Pakistani diplomats from India, calling it “undesirable”.

Aisha Farooqui Foreign Office spokesperson strongly condemned the move, saying it was part of anti-Pakistan propaganda in the Indian media.

The spokesperson condemned the detention and torture as well as threatening and pressuring of the diplomatic officials to accept false charges.

She said Pakistan strongly rejects the baseless Indian allegations and deplores the Indian action which is in clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations as well as the norms of diplomatic conduct especially in an already vitiated atmosphere.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has always worked within parameters of international law and diplomatic norms.

The Indian move was an attempt to curb the diplomatic activities of the Pakistan High Commission. These steps cannot divert attention from internal and external issues, nor can they cover up violations in occupied Kashmir, Aisha said
