Decision reserved on Asif Zardari’s request to remove supplementary reference

According to the report of Baaghi TV, the decision on the requests to remove the references of former President Asif Ali Zardari has been reserved till tomorrow.

Islamabad Accountability Court has said that the decision on Asif Zardari’s petitions will be announced tomorrow. Park Lane, Money Laundering and Thatta Water Supply Reference will work or not. The verdict will be announced tomorrow. Earlier, Farooq Naik had completed arguments on the petitions seeking removal of three additional references, after which the NAB prosecutor gave arguments in court.

Sardar Muzaffar said that nowhere in the law is it written that a supplementary reference cannot be filed, Farooq Naik did not refer to any law in which it is written, according to section 16 a case can be transferred to another place.

The summons notice issued by the court is a court order. Notice of summons means that the case has been deemed admissible by the court.

Sardar Muzaffar further said in the court that after the reference was filed in the Thatta water supply case, more evidence came to light. In the Thatta water supply case, one accused pleaded guilty. All these things were presented before the court in the form of a supplementary reference. Farooq Naik said that Asif Zardari was never summoned in this case. We have a copy of the notice sent to Asif Zardari. The NAB submitted a notice sent to Asif Ali Zardari in May 2019.

The NAB prosecutor told the court that Asif Ali Zardari had asked for a written reply in response to the notice. No reply has been received from Asif Ali Zardari till date.

Earlier, NAB Rawalpindi had filed a supplementary reference in the Park Lane case. The names of 19 accused including Asif Zardari, Anwar Majeed and Abdul Ghani Majeed have been included in the NAB supplementary reference. In the interim reference, NAB accused the accused of corruption of Rs 1.5 billion. In the supplementary reference, the amount of corruption has been increased to Rs 3.74 billion and the number of witnesses has also been increased.
