A country-wide strike may lead to a petroleum crisis

Fear of another petrol crisis in Pakistan.

A country-wide strike is underway against the rejection of demands of the Oil Tankers Association. In lieu of this, the supply of petroleum products has been suspended across the country.

There is a fear of petroleum shortage across the country. According to reports, the government and the association will reportedly hold talks today to discuss the demands.

Meanwhile, the Association has said the strike will continue if the government fails to comply with their demands.

According to reports, the Association has claimed a reduction in income tax from 3 percent to 2 percent. They have laid the demand that the income tax holding agent rate should be also be reduced to one percent within fifteen days.

Abdullah Afridi, president of the Oil Tankers Contractors Association, said that despite the ban on commercial and illegal loading by OGRA, it is not being stopped. Assurance was given, but the problems could not be solved. Any company has the right to legally fill the tanker from its nearest depot. We have contracting agreements for the contractor but our rent is being taken by private tankers.
