A Judical Commission should be formed: Former Secretary Food Naseem Sadiq

Lahore, 12th April: Former Secretary Food, Naseem Sadiq has written to Chief Secretary Punjab for setting up a judicial commission regarding the flour mafia in the country.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, in the wake of a major flour scandal in Pakistan, former Secretary of Food Naseem Sadiq wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary Punjab, to form the OSDs along with a Judicial Commission.

He said that flour mafia is being protected in Punjab. He also gave a detailed answer to all the allegations made on him in the letter.

Naseem Sadiq wrote in his letter that he was posted as a Food Secretary for two months and two days. When he took charge, the wheat procurement campaign had begun. He said that the matter of procurement of wheat and the shortage of flour are not interconnected.

Four million metric tonnes of wheat procurement target was never met, but despite poor yields, the best performance was obtained and it was the cabinet’s decision to open the jute bags, which was implemented.

Naseem Sadiq wrote in the letter that the inquiry committee is biased, Prime Minister Imran Khan is being misguided. Two members of the inquiry committee have been putting pressure on him for the allotment of a house in DG Khan.

Former Secretary Food also said that the feed mills were provided wheat before this issue which has documented evidence. He said that Sindh did not buy wheat.

After the wheat procurement campaign, several scandals were exposed and when he undertook the investigations, he got posted. He wrote that there is severe corruption in the subsidy, rebate and export of wheat. He is a civil servant has carried out his duty honestly.

Wheat Crisis Investigative Report:

A three-member committee, headed by DG FIA Wajid Zia, presented a report on the wheat crisis in the country and submitted it to the Prime Minister. According to which the Provincial Ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were held responsible and Sindh was given a clean chit.

According to the report, the wheat shortage came as a result of poor planning by the federal and provincial governments. The owner of the Punjab Flour Mills took advantage of the provincial incapabilities.

According to the report, the Punjab Food Department started collecting wheat with a late time period of 20-22 days. Punjab Food Department failed to produce demand for supply and did not take any precautionary measures.

The target to produce a required amount of wheat in Punjab was not achieved and the people held accountable for this mishandling are the Food Secretary Sami Ullah, former Food Secretary Naseem Sadiq and former Food Director Zafar Iqbal.

According to the report, the responsibility of getting less wheat in Sindh cannot be imposed on one individual. The Sindh cabinet has not made any decision on the summary of wheat procurement.

In KPK, the Provincial Minister Qalandar Lodhi, Secretary Akbar Khan and Director Sadat Hussain are held responsible for not achieving wheat procurement targets.
