February 10, 2021 KABUL: A car bomb has exploded at a police chief’s car in central Afghanistan, killing at least six people and wounding two others, officials say.

According to Afghan media, a remote-controlled bomb was detonated on Kabul’s main highway just as the police chief’s car was passing by. A horrific blast killed police chief Mohammad Zai Kochi on the spot.

The blast also killed two bodyguards of the police chief and two passers-by while two passers-by were injured and shifted to a nearby hospital. The condition of both the injured is said to be critical.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but missile and suicide attacks in Kabul over the past three months have targeted security and government officials, as well as an attack on Kabul University that killed 50 students and these operations were carried out by ISIS.

Two more blasts took place in Kabul today, including an attack on the police chief’s car. Both attacks targeted police and security forces, but failed and left only four people with minor injuries.
