KARACHI – August 1, 2025: Advocate Khwaja Shamsul Islam was fatally shot, and his son injured, in a targeted firing incident near a mosque in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6, Karachi, on Thursday.
According to police sources, unidentified assailants opened fire near the site of a funeral, critically injuring Khwaja Shamsul Islam and his son, Daniyal. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Advocate Islam succumbed to his injuries. Hospital authorities and police later confirmed his death.

A heavy contingent of police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. DIG South stated that preliminary investigations suggest the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute, although the motive has not yet been confirmed.
The attackers fled the scene, and law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation. Further investigations are currently underway.
