Afghan forces bomb Taliban hideouts, killing 12 civilians

Airstrikes by Afghan forces on a Taliban hideout in the Afghan province of Kunduz have killed 12 civilians and injured more than 10 others.

According to Afghan officials, Afghan forces carried out two airstrikes on Taliban strongholds in Khanabad District, killing civilians, including women and children.

Afghan Defense Ministry officials claim that more than 40 Taliban have been killed in air strikes.

Confirming the civilian casualties in the airstrikes, Afghan MP Fatima Aziz said the first attack was on a Taliban hideout and the second targeted civilians, killing 11 civilians and leaving five missing.

On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that 40 civilians were killed and 17 wounded in air strikes by Afghan forces, but did not comment on the number of Taliban killed in the attacks.
