Afghanistan: Ghani blames ‘abrupt’ US exit for worsening security

KABUL: Afghan President Ghani calls for peace after US-Taliban talks cancelled, he also invites Taliban chief to a video conference.

According to details Ashraf Ghani has made a renewed call for peace after Donald Trump called off talks with the Taliban. President Ghani said “We are ready for peace talks but if the Taliban think they can scare us, look at these warriors” declaring that peace could not be unconditional as he repeated demands for a ceasefire that the Taliban have so far refused. President Ghani’s move  is notable, because before Trump’s decision he said it had no conditions for entering talks with the Taliban.

Ghani went as far to invite Taliban chief Maulvi Hibatullah Akhunzada to a video conference and urged him to “at least talk with people” instead of hiding.
