After vigorous testing, locally-made vaccine gets DRAP's approval #Baaghi

Lahore, 27th May: Pakistan’s Drug Regulatory Authority gives approval to the locally made coronavirus vaccine for general use.

According to reports, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has given a go-ahead to the locally made coronavirus vaccine ‘PakVac’.

Sources informed that PakVac will be made available for general use in the coming week.

It is pertinent to mention here that PakVac is the single-dose vaccine that is being manufactured with the help of China’s CanSino Biologics at the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Sources have informed that the first-ever single-dose COVID-19 vaccine prepared in Pakistan has passed the testing and is ready to be used by the general public.

After passing the testing, DRAP’s National Control Lab for Biologicals (NCLB) has issued a certificate to PakVac to be released in bulk.
After rigorous testing of PakVac at NIH, it was found that the vaccine is safe and effective to be used by the public against the coronavirus pandemic.

The sources at the Ministry of National Health said that in the first phase, a total of 124,000 CanSino shots have been developed by Pakistani experts under the supervision of a Chinese team at the NIH plant.

However, the next batch of the vaccine will be manufactured by Pakistani experts. Sources have also informed that the National Institute of Health will be able to produce three million doses per month.

It is to be noted that so far, Pakistan has received vaccine doses of Sinopharm, Sinovac and CanSino from China and AstraZeneca through the COVAX program.

Currently, Pakistan is vaccinating people over the age of 30 years and has announced the opening of the registration procedure for 19 years and above.
