According to the tweets of a Hamburg-based Aviation Safety expert group, flight IX-1344 made an overall of three landing attempts. The first one was over runway 10, the second over runway 28, and the third and fatal approach was over runway 10 again when the accident occurred.

V Ibrahim, one of the passengers who survived with minor injuries said that, “it was raining heavily and the pilot had given a warning before landing saying the weather was really bad. He tried for safe landing twice but lost control. The aircraft shot off the runway and skidded off and it broke into two pieces.”

The question is that why did the crew decided to land on runway 10 knowing that there was a strong tailwind? The answer is still awaited as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced an inquiry committee to probe the incident, while the Chief Minister of Kerala has announced Rs 500,000 each to the families of the victims.
