As expected from the Prime Minister and Chairman PTI Imran Khan, he once again surprised everyone with his decision. “Sardar Tanveer Ilyas” and “Sultan Mahmood” topped the list of names being debated for Azad Kashmir. But at the same time, PTI Chairman Imran Khan surprised everyone by electing Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi as the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
Today, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi has become the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, about whom PTI Chairman Imran Khan had expressed surprise during a meeting in LA-18 that even here Niazi, meaning Imran Khan does not know him beforehand. If so, how did they get elected? Now he has become question-marked from the beginning. If we talk about his political career, then Mr. Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi Sahib has also been a member of the first Muslim Conference.
During the Muslim Conference, when General Musharraf was president in the center of Pakistan, Abdul Qayyum Niazi was part of the government of Azad Kashmir. After which he joined PML-N. The PML-N was also an important part of the Azad Kashmir government formed in 2016.
Now, a year ago, in 2020, Sardar Abdul Qayyum left PML-N and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and today, surprising everyone, he has been elected as the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir. The main reason for his becoming the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir so far is said to be internal differences within the party.
A block was supporting Mr. Sardar Tanveer Ilyas who is one of the most powerful politicians PTI has in AJK. While another group was supporting Mr. Sultan Mehmood who is ex-PM of AJK when the Muslim Conference was in power, Sultan Mehmood was the prime minister of the state called Azad And Jammu Kashmir. Due to which the top leadership of the party selected him as the Prime Ministerial candidate and today Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly has elected Azad Kashmir Prime Minister with 33 votes.
Like Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi Sahib, wherever he came from, he is now the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, so all the best wishes for him. May God help them to help the people of Janat Nazeer Valley with honesty, hard work, and dedication. Amen.
