Edinburgh, March 26 : Alex Salmond, Scotland’s former first minister announced that he started a new pro independence party to stand and take part in the upcoming elections of Scotland.
Salmond says that the Alba Party will be a “new political force” that compliments the SNP.
Salmond is one of the 4 candidates who have declared to stand up for the elections after being free of all charges held against him in the court regarding sexual harassment.
The Scottish elections will be held on 6th of May this year after which there will be a nationwide poll regarding independence from UK. However, Boris Johnson is extremely against this decision.
As far as the position of the Scottish nationals is concerned, half of them want independence while the other half isn’t in favor of it.
“Boris Johnson has already said no to the SNP proposals. He will find it much more difficult to say no to a parliament and a country,” Salmond said at a virtual party launch event.
