American prisoner hanged himself in a strange way, authorities in trouble
WASHINGTON: A prisoner in the US state of Connecticut has reportedly hanged himself with a face mask.
According to US media reports, only face masks were provided to prisoners as a precautionary measure against the corona virus.
The 32-year-old prisoner made a face mask for himself and hanged himself with the mask cloth.
The State Department confirmed the incident, saying the prisoner who commit suicide was identified as Okazio, who was brought to the jail on August 5.
Okazio was detained for failing to pay a $10,000 fine, during which he ended his life in a cell with a face mask.
State police have launched an investigation into the incident and initially said a face mask wrapped around the prisoner’s neck was found, which led to his death.
