It should be noted that great progress has been made in the treatment of coronavirus, experts have found a life-saving drug for anxious patients. It costs only five pounds (about a thousand rupees). According to the British news agency “BBC”, British experts have searched for a life-saving medicine for anxious patients.

According to the news agency, the use of dexamethasone has reduced the mortality rate of patients on ventilator by 40%, while the use of the drug has reduced the mortality rate of oxygenated patients by 20 to 25%. The experiments were led by a team from the University of Oxford, which looked at the use of the drug in 2,000 Coronavirus patients admitted to UK hospitals.

According to the British media, if Dexamethasone is used at the onset of the epidemic, it can save 5,000 lives. The drug  is effective only on anxious patients, not moderate patients.

The drug is used to treat a number of ailments besides asthma and arthritis. The cost of the drug in the UK is only five pounds (about one thousand rupees). The drug has been used worldwide since 1960. Professor Landrey says the drug can be given to patients in hospitals if appropriate, but people should not take it on their own at home.

Dexamethasone is not beneficial for people who do not have severe symptoms of coronavirus and do not have difficulty breathing. The trial, called the Recovery Trial, has been going on since March. The trial also included the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine, which was later discontinued due to concerns that it could increase the risk of heart disease and death.
