Anchorperson resigns following harassment by producer

Female Pakistani news anchor, Maham Waseem, has reportedly resigned from Abb Tak news following allegations that she was harassed by her producer, Tahir Niaz.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Maham Waseem has reportedly handed in her resignation from position as anchorperosn for programme Khufia, telecast on Abb Tak. The anchor has resigned after allegations that she was repeatedly harassed by the producer, Tahir Niaz.

Waseem has specified in her resignation letter that she was on multiple occasions, victimized through the ‘attitude and the unprofessional conduct’ of her producer who allegedly harassed and humiliated the anchorperson.

According to reports, Waseem stated in her letter that she had informed the Managing Director, Fahad Shah, about the unfortunate incidents yet no action was taken. Reportedly, Waseem had filed complaints with the Managing Director of Apna and Abb Tak Channels, through oral and written means in form of E-mail and text messages, respectively yet the incidents continued.

Maham Waseem has reportedly has accused Tahir Niaz of accepting bribes and misuse of powers. Waseem added that Tahir Niaz had asked her to take bribes which she had ‘categorically refused’ in lieu of which he had threatened and intimated not just her but also others who would stand against him.

Reportedly, Niaz threatened his opposition with social media campaigns and acid attacks, as well as threatening to ruin their careers.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Maham Waseem has mentioned in her resignation letter that she has ‘serious apprehensions’ that Tahir Niaz can harm her following which she has offered her resignation with immediate effect.
