Another milestone reached in Saudi Arabia regarding women
For the first time in the history of the country, a women’s weightlifting championship was held, 35 women weightlifters participated.
Saudi Arabia is no longer the first country where women were confined to their homes. The current Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is committed to bringing about reforms in all areas. In order to strengthen the kingdom economically, he has given women many rights and lifted decades of restrictions.

For the first time in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Women’s Weightlifting Championship has been successfully held. ۔ The Women’s Weightlifting Championship in Saudi Arabia was held at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh. The competition was attended by 35 weightlifters from nine weightlifting centers and training centers locally.
Also present on the occasion was Fauzia Houbani, a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Weightlifting Federation and head of the women’s committee in the federation.
She described the competition as a milestone for women’s weightlifting in the country and a reflection of a bright future.”I am delighted that the skill and strength shown by these heroines is a source of joy and pride for us,” Houbani added.
