According to Baaghi TV, the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Administration has approved amendments to the Control of Building Operations Act 1988 and the Jammu and Kashmir Development Act, 1970.

This action was taken so that any area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir can be given the status of “Strategic Areas” where the Indian Armed Forces can carry out irregular constructions and other related activities.

According to the South Asian Wire, the existing camps of the Indian Armed Forces located in different parts of the country are considered as strategic areas.

Land is currently being acquired for the construction of new camps and cantonments and the construction that is going on there will be permanent.

At present, many camps are temporarily housed in private houses such as gardens, houses, and state government property. An entire area can now be designated as a strategic area that can be used for the armed forces and their families.

The Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Administration has also approved the proposal of the Housing and Urban Development Department for adoption and notification of Jammu and Kashmir Housing, Affordable Housing, Katchi Abadi and Rehabilitation and Township Policy, 2020.

The new policy targets 200,000 homes. The Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Administration has set an initial target of constructing 100,000 residential units in the next five years.

According to an official statement, the policy estimates seven models of houses. These residential and settlement shops will be built through public-private partnerships.
