The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the escalating repression unleashed by Indian forces on the oppressed people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for peacefully demanding their UN-mandated right to self-determination.

APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, denounced the continued human rights violations perpetrated by nearly one million Indian troops operating under draconian laws that have turned life into a perpetual nightmare for Kashmiris.

He said the scale of atrocities has intensified dramatically after the Modi-led BJP regime’s unilateral and illegal revocation of Articles 370 and 35-A on August 05, 2019, a move aimed at disempowering, dispossessing, and silencing the Kashmiri people. He reaffirmed that Kashmir remains a longstanding political and humanitarian dispute requiring urgent international intervention.

Advocate Minhas appreciated Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmir cause. He said India’s “stubbornness and lack of political will” remain the biggest obstacles to resolving the decades-old conflict. He urged the international community, human rights defenders, and global institutions to press India to return to the negotiation table for a just and peaceful settlement in accordance with UN resolutions.
