ABBOTTABAD: An application has been submitted to DC Abbottabad for the establishment of a “Gay Club” in Abbottabad, a city in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
The application seeking the establishment of a ‘gay club’ in Abbottabad was submitted by Pritam Giani to the DC office on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Giani’s application aims to obtain an NOC (No Objection Certificate) for the opening of this ‘Gay Club’ in the city. Giani, who identified himself as a resident of the Gulistan Colony, in Abbottabad, hopes to name the club ‘Lorenzo Gay Club’. The applicant assured that a formal warning would be displayed on the walls of the club cautioning visitors against engaging in explicit activities such as sexual intercourse within the club premises although allowing them to engage in kissing or other such activities. The club will be open to gay and non-gay people, with more facilities available to the members. Giani has argued the club will be a great practical facility for the gay people in Abbottabad, and across the country.

After reports made rounds on social media, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Abbottabad confirmed that it had received such an application but went on to state that it would not be implemented. However, despite this verbal statement, the application was forwarded instead of being rejected.
Meanwhile, the public has taken to social media websites to request that the application be rejected. A social media user, Qamar Sohail has written: “Good news for the residents of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. An application has been filed for permission to open a ‘gay’ club in Abbottabad. Soon its branches will be launched in other cities so that the followers of the Nation of Lut can enjoy their filthy lives in a Muslim country.” Sohail went on to say: “I have no complaint with Pritam Giani. My complaint is with religious contractors like Maulana Ibtisam. Well, hopefully, this complaint will be of no avail… only Luti clubs will open in the country and not universities like Namal and Qadir.”

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan is a country acquired in the name of Islam (refer to Two Nation Theory) and recognizes it as its primary religion, therefore under the teachings of Islam, homosexuality is forbidden. Investigative agencies should fully probe the matter and investigate such activities within the Abbottabad district of KPK, as well as look into Pritam Giani and any/all organizations behind him, to reject any such establishments in the country rather than inviting divine retribution by allowing such facilities to open in the country.

According to Pakistani law, homosexuality or engaging in sexual intercourse between two people of the same sex is a crime. Aside from the Pakistan Penal Code, even Islamic laws have prescribed this crime as punishable for people engaging in such activities. Generally, the homosexual community in Pakistan chooses to not reveal their identities preferring to maintain anonymity.
Although Allah Almighty has placed a sexual desire in mankind and also taught us how to fulfill it i.e. through heterosexual relations between men and women turning to each other for sexual satisfaction after marriage. Allah Ta’ala has made this marriage a reward and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) has called it the completion of half of the religion. Apart from this, Allah Ta’ala has declared all kinds of non-Shariah methods as haram and has prescribed a severe punishment in the Hereafter, and worldly punishments are also specified in the Sharia for non-Shariah methods of sexual gratification. Homosexuality is an illegal and unnatural way of fulfilling one’s sexual desires. It was because of this sin that the people of Hazrat Lut (PBUH) were severely punished by Allah Almighty. Even in the Shari’ah, severe punishment has been prescribed for those who prefer sexual gratification within the same sex. Therefore, homosexuality is strictly forbidden and a great sin and it is necessary to avoid it completely.
On the one hand, homosexuality poisons the spiritual life of a person, on the other hand, it is also extremely harmful and dangerous for physical health. According to modern medical research, AIDS is one such disease that spreads due to homosexual behavior, while also weakening our body’s defense system(s). This disease has recently created a threat in all those countries in which homosexuality and obscenity are considered permissible.

It is pertinent to mention that while homosexuality is prohibited in Islam, cases of homosexuality and abuse in children have seen a steep rise in recent years with many cases being reported across the country. Earlier this year, there were reports of a boy child being sexually abused by his Madrassa teacher (Maulana sahib). A video of the incident had gone viral, and the maulana had been arrested after severe public backlash.
A similar incident took place in Lahore when Mufti Abdul Aziz was found abusing a student in his madrassa several times, and his video went viral. At the college and university level, there are consequences for such misbehavior, but why is it that such a thing is happening in madrassas as well? The reason is that the teachers of these schools are themselves involved in this sin, forcing the students to fulfill their sexual desires, it is an even greater injustice that they do such ugly things in the house of God. The cycle continues as gradually the students become addicted and they also sink into the mire of this sin.
