Islamabad (12th July, 2019): Islamabad High Court (IHC) decides to remove Arhsad Malik as accountability court judge after PMLN leader, Maryam Nawaz makes alleged video public.
According to Baaghi TV’s reports, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has decided to remove Judge Arshad Malik from the accountability court after an alleged video of him has been made public by PMLN leader and daughter of former Prime Minster, Nawaz Sharif.
A spokesperson for the court has claimed that the acting Chief Justice has written a letter to the Law Ministry, seeking approval to withdraw Arshad Malik from his current services. The video was reportedly made public by Maryam Nawaz in a recent press conference. It has been confirmed by sources that Judge Arshad Malik had rejected all allegation placed on him by the PMLN leader earlier. The allegations included accusing Arshad Malik of victimizing Nawaz Sharif in misplaced corruption cases.
Sources claim that the judge had released an official statement against the leaked video, referring to it as fabricated and out of context. He continued to say that he had not been pressured to deliver verdict against the former PM, despite claims of Maryam Nawaz.
He asserted that he should have acquitted Sharif for another case and not the corruption case if he were truly under pressure. Arshad Malik further clarified that he had old ties with Nasir Butt [allegedly part of the video] and his brother Abdullah Butt and that he met with them often.
Moreover, he uncovered that the PMLN leaders had attempted to bribe him when he was hearing NAB references against the Sharif family. He discussed that they [PMLN leaders] threatened him with consequences if their “demands” were not met.
He stated: “I had then left my case to Almighty and chosen to stick to the truth”.
According to Baaghi TV’s sources, judge Arshad Malik has demanded the authorities to take legal action against all those involved in this conspiracy against him.
