
National Command & Operation Center (NCOC) chief, Asad Umar has said, it is estimated that people will face difficulties due to closure of public transport till 16th May.
According to reports, Asad Umar has said that the decision to was unavoidable in lieu of the alarming COVID-19 situation across the region. Hospitals in India are reportedly running at full capacity with a lack of oxygen supply in many places. Given the current situation, Asad Umar has urged the public to be careful.
In Nepal too, the number of daily Corona virus cases has risen to more than 7,000. Iran has confirmed its death toll to be 400 deaths as India reported more cases in the last 24-hours.
A press release issued after the NCOC meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Asad Omar, stated that all business centers and shops would remain closed from May 8th to 16th, but petrol pumps, medical stores, grocery stores, bakeries and Food items shops will be exempted from these restrictions.
According to the NCOC, there will be a complete ban on tourism for local and foreign tourists as well. All tourist destinations, hotels, shopping malls, parks and restaurants will remain closed. All travel nodes leading to Northern Areas and Karachi Sea View will also be banned. However, residents of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will be allowed to return before Eid.
