Kabul: Ashraf Ghani’s cabinet, generals, and key figures are ready to flee at the VIP terminal at Kabul airport. Reports suggest that the Afghan capital is close to falling and a strange situation is currently being seen at the airport.
According to reports, it was said there is chaos everywhere at the moment and Afghan government officials are running around in panic.
The waiting room and parking of the VIP terminal at Kabul Airport are packed with President Ashraf Ghani’s advisors, ministers, former ministers, and MPs. However, their airplane is not getting permission to take off.
An agreement was reached not to attack Kabul, and that the acting Afghan interior minister would peacefully transfer power to the new interim government.
According to Afghan media, talks are underway at the Afghan Presidential Palace to transfer power to the Taliban, with Ali Ahmad Jalali being appointed as the new head of interim government. Abdullah Abdullah is playing the role of mediator in the talks, and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is likely to resign in a short while. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has also confirmed that direct talks with the Afghan government are underway.
The Taliban have taken control of all borders in Afghanistan, stating that they did not intend to enter Kabul through war. They declared a ceasefire. not wanting any casualties, or desire to retaliate. Sohail Shaheen said a general amnesty for Afghans and others has been announced, and those who are against the corrupt Kabul administration will be welcomed. Doors are also open to those who helped the interventions, he said.
It is noteworthy that the Taliban did not face any significant resistance during their entry into the capital. There was panic among Afghan citizens over reports of the arrival of fighters, with students from Kabul University going home, and people being stranded.
The Taliban also entered Gurdas, the capital of Paktia province, and Asadabad, the headquarters of Kannada province on the Pakistani border, which was also captured. The governor of Zabal surrendered to the Taliban. They also captured the capital of Daykundi province, Nili, without fighting, and a video of Afghan soldiers going to Iran for shelter, including armored vehicles and tanks, has also surfaced.
US President Joe Biden has warned Taliban fighters that there would be a strong response if the diplomatic staff was harmed. Taliban surveillance will comtinue in the future as well.
