The Afghan Taliban delegation has entered the Afghan Presidential Palace to negotiate a peaceful transfer of power wherein talks are underway between Abdullah Abdullah and Ali Ahmed Jalali.

According to Afghan media, a Taliban delegation has arrived at the Afghan Presidential Palace to negotiate the transfer of power, where talks are underway. Afghan government officials are yet to comment on the reports.

Reports state that Abdullah Abdullah is playing the role of mediator in the case while Ali Ahmed Jalali will be appointed as the head of the new interim government.

Earlier, the Taliban called for a peaceful transfer of power in a statement.

It should be noted that the Taliban have entered Kabul. The Acting Home Minister said that Kabul will not be attacked, instead power will be transferred peacefully.

“All trade agencies and banks in Kabul should continue their work,” the Afghan Taliban spokesman said. “No harm will be done to those working in commercial institutions and banks.”

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Afghan province Khost has also been captured while the governor, police chief, intelligence center affiliates have been taken under control.

“Weapons, equipment, and vehicles have also been seized. Now Afghan forces must stop firing and give way to foreigners and civilians,” Zabihullah Mujahid said.

According to sources, the Taliban have also occupied a Pak-Afghan border which is already closed due to the security situation.

It should be noted that after the failures of the Afghan army in fighting the Taliban, pressure is mounting on President Ashraf Ghani and his resignation is being sought. They now have only two ways to resign or continue fighting to maintain government control over the capital.
