The Day of Ashura (10th Muharram) is being celebrated with religious devotion and respect all over the country with the aim of paying homage to the great sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his comrades in the field of Karbala.
According to reports, processions are being carried out in all parts of the country, and certain rules and regulations have been enforced to prevent the fourth wave of Coronavirus spread.
On this day, scholars in their speeches have been highlighting the teachings of Imam Hussain as well as various other aspects of the tragedy of Karbala.
Mourners have been mourning in processions under tight security, remembering the atrocities inflicted on the martyrs.
The main procession of Ashura Day in Karachi started off from Nishtar Park and will end at Hussainiya Iranians Kharadar. Before its start, Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi addressed the Central Majlis.
In Lahore, the main procession started off from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate which will end in the evening after reaching Karbala Gamay Shah.
Police forces in Karachi are carrying out their duties at various places for security at gatherings.
6,368 police officers and 3 companies of the Rapid Response Force are present to monitor and secure the main procession, including the routes and corridors, while 90 snipers of the Special Security Unit surround the gathering.
A total of 18,823 officers and men of Karachi Police and 12 companies of Rapid Response Force have been deployed across the city for the security of the mourners.
President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan in their separate messages said that the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his devoted comrades is a sign of firm determination and patience of always standing with the truth. One should not hesitate to sacrifice their life for the greater good.
The President urged the nation to remain united in accordance with the teachings of Imam Hussain, transcending hatred, malice, and sectarianism.
He said that we should be ready for all kinds of sacrifices while showing determination and courage for the stability of our religion, nation, and the country as this is the only way to succeed in this world and the hereafter.
Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the nation to give up lies and slander and pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain through the support of truth and justice.
He said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) is a symbol of strength in the struggle against oppression and strength against lies in all times to come. He urged the people to always follow the way of the truth.
The President and the Prime Minister further directed the people to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations for the prevention of the Coronavirus epidemic.
