Lahore, 8th March: International Women’s Day is being celebrated all over the world including Pakistan. The aim is to pay tribute to the social, political and economic struggles of women around the globe.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, events in this regard are also been held across Pakistan. Walks, seminars and discussions are being organized by civil society organizations to highlight the issues and challenges facing women.

As per reports, the first Aurat March was held in Karachi in 2018. Next year, Aurat March was being held in more cities, including Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Larkana, and Hyderabad. This year too, the marches will be held in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and other cities of Pakistan.

Today’s Aurat March in Karachi will take place at Frere Hall. The organisers have emphasised to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs), including wearing masks and maintaining a social distance of six feet.

As per reports, the Karachi march will be broadcast live. The ‘Aurat March Karachi’ on their official Twitter page made the announcement:

The Aurat March in Lahore will be held from the Lahore Press Club to the PIA Building in the afternoon. The route for the Lahore March has been shared on their Twitter page:

Aurat March in Islamabad dedicated to the crisis of care will also be held accordingly.

Aurat March Karachi will focus on patriarchal violence and Lahore March will address the healthcare workers and women’s health.

Tributes:

Meanwhile, ministers and politicians from across the country have been paying in their tributes today to recall the role of women in their lives while calling for giving given equal rights to them.

Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa shared a message today and said Pakistani women had “contributed immensely for the glory and honour of our nation”. Women were also at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, he added.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz shared her message on Twitter and wrote, “A society without empowered women becomes dysfunctional. I dream of a Pakistan where women excel in every field and play leading roles”.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood paid tribute to all the women in his life, including his mother, wife, daughters, sisters and his colleagues at work and in politics.

He wrote, “Thank you for making the world a better place.”

Fawad Chaudhry, the Minister for Science and Technology urged girls to go for science subjects to change their and the country’s destiny.
