Australia open to hosting series with India, Pak: Nick Hockley I Baaghi TV

Cricket Australia chief Nick Hockley said Australia will be open to hosting a series with India and Pakistan, saying the country will be happy to provide a platform to resume the rivalry between the arch-rivals. Hockley added that a big expatriate community presence from both India and Pakistan in Australia will provide with a great platform to tap into the market for one of the much-anticipated contests in the world of cricket.

India and Pakistan have not playing bilateral cricket for nearly a decade due to cross-border tensions but Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently said he would propose the 4-national tournament, involving India, Pakistan, Australia and England to the ICC and said the profits from such a tournament can be shared on percentage basis with all ICC members.

India and Pakistan have been meeting only in major ICC tournaments. India will play against Pakistan in the opening match of T20 Word Cup 2022. Notably, the two teams had begun their campaigns at last year’s World Cup against each other.

Cricket Australia Chief Executive Nick Hockley said his board has not discussed the proposal but would be open to hosting Pakistan and India in the tri-series.

“Personally, I really like the tri-series concept. It’s work well in the past,” Hockley told reporters in Rawalpindi. “We’d be very open to host…matches.”

“There are really big communities of India and Pakistan living in Australia,” he added.

“It’s a contest that everyone wants to see in world cricket and if we can help support further opportunities, we’d love to do that,” he added.

Australian cricket team is currently in Pakistan on their first-ever tour of the Asia nation in 24 years.
