The flight which took off from Cairns, Queensland, and was en route to Groote Eylandt was operated by Australia’s Alliance Airlines, per flight records on the website FlightAware Speaking with Insider, a spokesperson for the Australian Federal Police (AFP) said that the flight has been turned due to an “incident”.

FlightAware records further show that the flight was diverted and landed in Cairns an hour after it departed.
