Aug 23, 2021: The Balochistan government has decided to give a monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000 including medical grant to deserving and sick artists of the province.

According to sources familiar with the matter, more than 1,200 artists were registered in the province while registration of others was underway. The source added that the move would make a big difference in the lives of artists who had difficulty in running their daily lives.

Highlighting other artist-friendly initiatives of the Balochistan government, he said that an artist endowment fund has also been set up to provide financial assistance to them in case of any emergency.

On the directive of Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal, the government has increased the endowment fund grant of Rs. 200 million for the welfare of artists. The Balochistan government plans to set up Noori Naseer Khan Cultural Complex, Art and Cultural Councils in Gwadar and Turbat to promote the province’s diverse and rich culture, an official said.

The government is holding cultural events to give artists a chance to showcase their talents and promote the rich local culture, he said.

“Strong traditions and cultural values are important to the people of Balochistan and have enabled them to maintain their distinctive ancient cultural identity and way of life with a slight change to this day,” the official noted.

The government has organized special classes in music, video editing, painting and photography to empower young people with modern entertainment skills.
