The incidence of Mucormycosis in patients recovering from coronary heart disease is increasing rapidly. Commonly referred to as “black fungus”, it usually affects patients’ lungs, sinuses, eyes, jaws or nasal passages. In India, mycorrhizae known as black fungus is spreading rapidly among doctors and people recovering from corona. It is a rare but dangerous fungal infection that affects the nose, eyes or sometimes the brain and cripples people recovering from corona. Dr Akshay Nair, an eye surgeon from Mumbai, says myocorrhizae are a very rare type of infection that is spread by mildew found in soil, plants, fertilizers, and rotten fruits and vegetables.

The government has instructed doctors to keep an eye on patients undergoing treatment in hospitals for symptoms of black fungus. The disease is rare, but there is a risk of death.
