The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect has taken into account the footprint of atrocity that is taking place in Palestine and Sudan. Under the Atrocity Alert, it has revealed the two nations to be at the risk of mass atrocity and crimes which they’re facing with nothing but sacrifice and courage. As the two stand against the mass brutalities, they have nothing but their undying devotion to resist the mass scale suffering. The massacre highlights the Man vs Weapon situation in both regions and how those suffering have absolutely nothing but their voice to combat the injustice, tyranny and occupation of the powerful.

As per a report by The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Jamila Ash Shaladeh, a victim of Palestinian genocide said:

“Life in Al Shuhada Street is a nightmare. There is no humanity. There is no accountability. We’re at the whim of the settlers and soldiers.

The statement is a reflection of a life lived in fear, persecution and struggle at the hands of the Israeli soldiers that no one is holding accountable. The absence of any criticism, any comment or condemnation from the international community is what isolates the Palestinians and turn their very homes into death camps.

Side by side, the Sudanese share this nightmare with the Palestinians miles away, they are a victim to the massacre that is killing innocents every day. Mohamed Khamis Douda, a victim of this siege shared his experience in an interview with BBC saying,

“I awake each morning tired from the efforts of the previous day. Our first struggle is the merciless hunger and the second is the constant artillery shelling. Even the glow of a cigarette can alert the drones that fly overhead, so once we finish our meals there is nothing to do but sit in silence, listening to the sound of the buzzing drone and the explosions.”

This single statement alone paints for us a picture of a life filled with horror, fear, hunger, and one with no sound except that of explosions.

The Palestinians and the Sudanese live in the shadow of fear every day. The very places that they once called homes and boomed with life have become their traps. With no place to go, the victims are either forced into displacement, settling into camps. Those who can’t, have no choice but to look at the door everyday breathing, waiting, watching and thinking that any knock on the door could be an Israeli Defense Force (IDF) soldier waiting to humiliate and assault them. At any point during the day, the Rapid Support Force (RSF) could attack, loot and massacre the entire settlement to fulfill their goal of ethnic cleansing spreading fear and despair among people.

In terms of struggle, the Palestinians and Sudanese share this nightmare. Another thing that they share is their continuous resistance against these atrocities and the never-ending sacrifices they’ve made towards their cause for freedom.  The undying resolve of both the Palestinians and the Sudanese is something that their oppressors have been trying to crush from the very beginning.

Through a censorship of narratives on mainstream platforms, media bans, cutting off internet access, filtering information, and restricting all the social media accounts, the struggle is evident. Both of the groups are suffering from a systematic oppression. Elements spread throughout the international system are sifting every little detail of the genocide from getting to the world.

However, the resistance has found its way out of these blockages – the quest for freedom continues and the Palestinians and Sudanese are founding these cracks in the system and telling the world their side of the story.

One stark difference between the struggle is how much attention both groups have gotten. Though the Sudanese and Palestinian struggle is similar in terms of experiencing massacre, execution and torture at the hands of their oppressors, one has made a stronger impact on the world than the other. Though the Palestinians people are undergoing censorships and bans, the Sudanese struggle is one that has been absolutely ignored. Devastated by the war in their country, ten thousand lives lost, eight million people displaced and entire villages burned to ground, the Sudanese peoples struggle has not made it to the Western media. While the Palestinian struggle has been a source of agitation or criticism, the Sudanese atrocity is one that has been met by nothing but indifference from the international system.

The reason behind this indifference is that Sudan carried little political value in the great power politics. Unlike Ukraine and Israel, Sudan does not fit into the national interest and foreign policy preferences of the West. Hence, any coverage, media campaign or reporting carries no incentive for the international community or its media houses. No politicians are seen drawing attention towards the issue to gain votes. No aid is being sent to Sudan. It is an undocumented suffering of millions. And this is not an act of ignorance or neglect rather a deliberate act on the part of great powers to quietly sit through the erasure and cleansing of entire community of people.

Lastly, it is important to recognize the fact that because of the noise generated by the Palestinian struggle, the world is forced to look at other regions and recognize their struggle against oppression. The Palestinian struggle for freedom and the undying commitment to the cause of resistance has generated a bond between the two groups. Resistance everywhere has the same slogans, the same demands, the same language that is the need for freedom, recognition, justice and of course the right to life which is inalienable for any race, gender, and ethnicity. Now, more than ever, the world needs to listen and to pay attention to the sacrifices of million. It needs to listen before any more lives are lost or soon the world would become Palestine and Sudan.
