BREAKING: PIA First Officer & Airline Management Summoned in Harassment Case – Hearing on 30 April 2025

LAHORE (Web Desk): The Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace has officially issued notices on 22 April 2025 to Shaharyar Mehmood Khan, Airbus #A320 First Officer at Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and to PIA management in a workplace harassment and cybercrime case filed by a Senior flight attendant Uzma Khan. Both respondents have been summoned to appear before the court in Lahore on 30 April 2025.
Filed through her legal counsel, Advocate Nabeel Javed Kahlon, Uzma Khan’s petition alleges that she was coerced into marriage on 16 June 2021, despite the existence of divorce stamp papers issued to Shaharyar on 11 June 2021—five days before the marriage. After divorcing her just 20 days later on 5 July 2021, Shaharyar allegedly launched a planned campaign of digital harassment, including the leaking of private videos and images via fake (Twitter/X) accounts. One Twitter account falsely portrayed Uzma as a prostitute under the name “Uzma Khan PIA (Hina)”.

Since the publication of this content, Uzma has received countless fake phone calls and obscene messages on her personal number. Her personal details and photos were circulated widely, resulting in severe mental trauma, professional setbacks, and public humiliation. She reports being harassed by passengers and colleagues, with her ability to work in the airline industry seriously compromised.
The petition further accuses PIA of institutional negligence for failing to safeguard its employee or provide any support during this ongoing harassment.

Digital abuse, identity misuse, and violation of privacy
This case highlights a growing need for stronger digital protections and a zero-tolerance policy toward workplace harassment in aviation and beyond.
