British Airways Dreamliner 787 collapses at Heathrow Airport

A British Airways (BA) Dreamliner 787-8 has been damaged after it collapsed on to its nose on the tarmac at Heathrow Airport – seriously injuring a crew member.

According to the details, an 8-year old 787-8 owned and operated by British Airways registration number G-ZBJB suffered a collapsed nose gear at London’s Heathrow Airport this morning.

A British Airways spokesperson confirmed that there were no passengers onboard the Dreamliner when the incident occurred. However, the aircraft is equipped with 154 economy seats, 25 premium economy and 35 business class cabins.

According to the spokesperson, “A freighter aircraft has been damaged while stationary on stand. As a freighter-only aircraft there were no passengers on board.”

“Safety is always our highest priority and we are investigating the matter,” the BA spokesperson added.

A number of emergency services vehicles rushed to the scene with the extent of the damage to the plane not yet known. However, the footage shows police, the fire brigade and ambulances all in attendance.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8:05am today to reports of an incident at Heathrow Airport.”

“We sent a number of resources to the scene including our hazardous area response team (HART), ambulance crews, a medic on a bicycle and an incident response officer. Our medics assessed two people at the scene. After an assessment we took one person to hospital,” the spokesperson added.
