Sajid Javid, the British Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, has contracted the coronavirus, despite having received both doses of the vaccines.
According to reports, when he went to get tested for a second time, the results came back positive.
The Secretary of State for Health says he showed minor symptoms of the disease, but now that there is confirmation that after the test that he is has been infected with it, he has responsibly quarantined himself. The vaccination shots he received were the AstraZeneca one which, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), has an efficacy of 63.09% against symptomatic COVID-19. AstraZeneca vaccines have also had cases of blood clots being produced in the body.
Reports state that he is currently working from home, and also met British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday.
Sajid Javid was born in Rochdale to a British-Pakistani family. He has been Secretary of State for Health and Social Care since June 2021 and has previously served as Britain’s Home Secretary from 2018 to 2019 and Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2019 to 2020.
It is to be noted that Sajid Javid contracted the virus just before Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s lifting of UK’s coronavirus restrictions. Internation health experts are strongly against the lifting.
