BTS Plea to End Racism and Violence Against Asians

Baaghi TV: Popular South Korean boy band BTS strongly condemns racism against the Asian Community, sharing their experiences in detail on social media here on Monday.

BTS is emerging as a public figure in the struggle to diminish hate crimes and racism since the start of the pandemic.

On Monday, March 29th, the world-famous band’s official social media platform shared a message to the world, written both in Korean and English, strongly condemning the ever-increasing anti-Asian violence sprouting out. This has raised major concerns and given a boost to hashtags #StopAsianHate, #StopAAPIHate and others of the sort.

The beloved boy band also shared their painful experiences in this regard. The statement made on the social media account came out as, “We send our deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones,”

 “We feel grief and anger. We recall moments when we faced discrimination as Asians. We have endured expletives without reason and were mocked for the way we look. We were even asked why Asians spoke in English”, the statement read.

Moreover the band shared that they took “considerable time contemplating how to voice our message”. They made it clear through their message that they felt immense pain and anger on becoming a subject to such hatred and violence. They further mentioned that this had a detrimental effect on their self-esteem rendering them powerless.

BTS concluded their message by stating their clear stance against racial discrimination stating that we all stand together in the name of our self-respect and we would not take it any other way.
