CAA abolishes alternate seating arrangement during flights

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has abolished the policy of leaving one seat between the passengers during flights as a precautionary measure for the coronavirus.

According to the details, CAA’s Department of Air Transport has issued a notification in which new SOPs have been introduced for international travellers.

Under the new SOPs, the policy of leaving one seat on international flights has been abolished. The new SOPs will be effective from September 24 and will remain in force till December 31.

Category A passengers will have to provide a copy of their coronavirus test 96 hours prior to flight.

All airports are restricted to all types of protocols for passengers, passengers can only be dropped off in front of the departure lounge.

Residents from 38 countries in Category A will be exempted from the coronavirus test. Exempted countries include Australia, Canada, China, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Singapore, Malawi, South Korea and Sweden.

The notification instructed that regular packaging and care of food items for passengers during the flight should be kept in mind and disinfection spray should be mandatory after using the aircraft washroom during the flight.
