Lahore, 22nd January: A video has been making rounds on social media for the past couple of days showing owners of Cannoli Restaurant in Islamabad giving a dressing down to their manager on his English speaking skills.

Baaghi TV: The video which was made by the owners of Cannoli restaurant by Soul Cafe Islamabad sparked a boycott trend on social media.

According to reports gathered by Baaghi TV, the owners of the restaurant, Uzma Chaudary and Dia Haider, purportedly recorded a 1-minute video clip as they were ‘bored’ and decided to humiliate their employee, Awais Aftab, who failed to impress the ‘English-speaking elites’.

Netizens have condemned the act by the ladies calling it their shallowness, workplace bullying and harassment by the elite-class.

Amidst all the backlash, a famous businessman jumps into the debate taking a step further.

Shahbaz Taseer, a Pakistani businessman, and the son of the former Governor of Punjab Salman Taseer stepped up for the Cannoli manager and graciously offered him a job.

Taseer took to his Twitter handle to announce:

He wrote, “Help me find Awais’s number. My HR has an opening for a manager and we would absolutely love to hire him @pacepakistanltd. Twitter can be toxic. If one doesn’t respond to disgusting lies those lies become a false truth. So let’s do something nice for a change. Pakistan Zindabad.”

What an initiative by him!

After getting in touch with the manager, Shahbaz Taseer added:

He wrote, “Just spoke to Awais. He’s in high spirits and was very professional. We have made him an offer let’s see.”

This, however, lifted our hope that still, we have generous people here who can really step forward to help others.

Lets hope, the manager gets a befitting job at the right place.

It is important to mention here that after all the uproar on social media, the restaurant’s owners released a statement posting their apology and justifying the banter which they suggest was only meant in a lighter note.

Some social media users also claimed that the apology by the women itself needs an apology!

Pakistani actress Mishi Khan posted a video as a response to their apology note on restaurant’s Instagram page:

Such reckless behaviour on their part is not acceptable by the people at any cost.
