ISLAMABAD, June 30 (APP): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice and sought  reply from Capital Development Authority (CDA) on the petition filed against the construction of temple in Islamabad.

A single bench of IHC presided over by Justice Amir Farooq took up for hearing petition filed by Chaudhry Tanvir Akhtar a local lawyer Tuesday.

The petitioner took the plea that the land provided for construction of temple in  sector H-9 at Islamabad be taken back. The construction funds provided for  Hindu temple be also withdrawn. A temple is already there in Said Pur village. Government can decorate it.  The land given  for construction of temple in H-9 Islamabad is sheer violation of master plan of Islamabad.

The petitioner prayed the court to ensure implementation of master plan of Islamabad besides issuing stay order against construction of temple. Government has not announced to provide funds for construction of mosque in H-9 but it has released funds for construction of temple.

Justice Amir Farooq remarked “ CDA should tell is construction of temple in H-9 part of master plan or  otherwise. The minorities have their full rights and we have to take care of  their rights as well.

The court while issuing notice on the petition seeking orders for stopping the construction of temple forthwith  has issued notice to CDA and sought reply.
