Lahore, 31st March: Pakistan has received its first shipment of 60,000 doses of single-dose Chinese vaccine by Cansino Biologics.
According to reports, Pakistan received the first shipment of 60,000 doses of Convidecia Chinese vaccine made by Cansino Biologics Inc late Tuesday night.
As per reports from the National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSR&C) distribution of the vaccine to provinces and other federating units will start from Wednesday.
An official from NHSR&C informed, “A commercial flight carrying 60,000 doses of Chinese single-dose vaccine Convidecia has just landed at Islamabad International Airport and it is being shifted to the federal storage. Its distribution to provinces and other federating units would commence from Wednesday.”
According to the directions given out by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), this single-dose vaccine will be administered only to people over 80 years of age. Separate vaccination centers will be made for the adult citizens to get themselves easily vaccinated for a single time only.
NCOC directives say, “Owing to its availability in small quantity, it is recommended that it should only be administered in large cities with high number of COVID-19 cases.”
It is being said that nobody will be able to get vaccinated by Convidecia without being registered, although walk-in facilities will be available but registration is mandatory.
The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has fixed the retails price of single-dose Convidecia vaccine at Rs 4,225, however, the federal cabinet has yet to approve the price.
