CM Punjab gives in-principle approval to start preliminary work on 4 small dams

According to the report of Baaghi TV, a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

The meeting reviewed the issues related to construction of small dams to prevent wastage of water in the rivers of Koh-e-Suleiman. Chief Minister Usman Buzdar gave in-principle approval to start preliminary work on 4 small dams in the area

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that time was needed to build small dams for water storage. The Punjab government is considering various options for small dams. Millions of cusecs of water are lost every year in the rivers of Koh-e-Suleiman. The Small Dams project is important to secure and use this precious water.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar further said that construction of small dams would provide clean drinking water to the people of backward areas. In the first phase, technical study is underway for construction of four small dams.

During the meeting, Secretary Irrigation briefed Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on important issues related to construction of small dams.

Provincial Minister Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretary Finance, Secretary Irrigation and Head of Special Monitoring Unit attended the meeting.
