Contempt petition against Murad Saeed

According to Baaghi TV, a contempt of court petition against Communications Minister Murad Saeed was heard in the Islamabad High Court.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the petition of a private transport company. Counsel for the petitioner said that the court had ordered full implementation of the National Highways Safety Ordinance 2000. Court decision not being implemented therefore contempt of court action should be taken.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked, “It was my decision therefore this petition should be heard by another bench.”

On which the lawyer of petitioner said, “It is your decision. You have also heard the contempt of court petition. The non-implementation of the Excel Load Act is damaging the national highways.”

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb asked whether the decision of the court was upheld. Was it challenged or suspended? To which the lawyer said no, there is a court decision which is not being implemented.

The Secretary Communications, Chairman NHA and IG Motorways are also parties in the contempt petition.
