Unemployment has also risen in Arab countries during the lockdown. More than 7 million people could lose their jobs in the second quarter of this year.
Mustafa Saeed, an expert on labor-related activities in Arab countries, says that since the outbreak of the Corona epidemic in the second quarter of this year, about 10.7% of the world’s working hours will be lost, which is 48 per week. The hourly loss ratio is equivalent to 305 million jobs.
Mustafa Saeed said that as far as the region, including most of the Arab countries, is concerned, an estimated 700,000 jobs are expected to be lost in the second quarter. Both economic recovery policies and procedures will help offset the losses. The youth are the most affected. The crisis of unemployed youth predates the spread of the corona virus, as the number of unemployed has reached 267 million young people between the ages of 18 and 28.
He explained that the organisation’s recent report shows that the number of young people in the crisis zone is close to 4 million and they are at risk of losing their jobs.
