Coronavirus: 1 dies in Punjab, the toll spikes to 638

Lahore, 29th March: A spike in the number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has been reported after the death of a patient today at Mayo Hospital Lahore.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, a 41-year-old confirm coronavirus patient has died today at the Mayo Hospital Lahore, who was suffering from mental illness also. The doctor at the hospital has declared about the deaths of 3 confirmed patients at the Mayo Hospital so far.

According to the spokesperson at the Primary and Secondary Healthcare 45 more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19, raising the number to 638 in Punjab. 5 patients have also been reported to have recovered from the disease.

COVID-19: Cancer Foundation Hospital to test for Coronavirus

In view of the increasing number of patients in Punjab, the government has decided to set up four new labs to create more test kits for the diagnosis of the coronavirus. Punjab Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid says that with the help of these labs, more than 15,000 patients can be tested in a week. We have 19,000 testing kits right now. In the coming days, more kits and supplies will be distributed from China to the provinces.

Lockdown restrictions have been further tightened to contain the spread of coronavirus in Punjab province. Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has decided to close general stores and grocery stores across the province till 8 pm. All shops will open daily from 8 am to 8 pm. The decision will take effect from Saturday. No one will be allowed to violate.

Earlier, in view of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus, provincial taxes of Rs 18 billion are waived off and Rs 4,000 per household would be paid to 25 lakh families affected by the closure of employment.
