Coronavirus cases increased again in Catalonia, Spain

The death toll in Spain’s northeastern region of Catalonia has risen sharply, while in Barcelona on Friday people were instructed to leave their homes if needed.

The Catalonia region’s health department says 1,266 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours.

Earlier this month, a lockdown was imposed in Caesarea, south of Barcelona and the population of this area is about 210,000.

A total of 81,932 people have been infected with the corona virus in Catalonia so far.

Earlier, when asked if he was considering closing his border with Spain, the French prime minister said he was closely monitoring the situation in Spain.
