Islamabad: Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc across the globe, including in Pakistan where 12 deaths were confirmed in the last 24-hours.

According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 58,902 corona tests were performed across the country in the last 24-hours with another 6,540 corona cases confirmed.

According to the NCOC, in the last 24-hours, the total number of corona cases in the country stood at 1.36 million, while the total number of deaths rose to 29,077 and the positive case rate was 11.10%.

The number of corona cases in Sindh is 520,415, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is 183,865, in Punjab is 460,335, in Islamabad is 115,939, in Balochistan is 33,855, in Azad Kashmir is 35,130 and in Gilgit-Baltistan, it has become 10,480.

So far, the highest number of deaths due to corona has occurred in Punjab, where 13,100 people have lost their lives. Meanwhile, 7,730 people have lost their lives in Sindh, 5,969 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 975 in Islamabad, 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 367 in Balochistan, and 749 in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Following the spike in Coronavirus cases in the federal capital Islamabad, 24 streets will be sealed tonight from 12 noon. As many as 21 educational institutions in Islamabad have already been closed due to the spread of Coronavirus, however, now the administration has decided to seal off 24 streets from 12 noon last night. In this regard, a statement has been issued by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad stating that 24 streets of different sectors will be sealed to prevent a further spread of the Covid-19 virus.

According to the notification, the streets to be sealed include 52, 56, 59, 79, and 80 streets of Islamabad Sector F-6/4. In addition, Sector F-10/4 Street nos. 50, 52, and 53 will also be sealed. Streets no. 21, 23, and 28 of Sector F-11/2, streets no. 15, 21, and 46 of Sector F-10/2 will also be closed. However, in Sector F-8/1 streets no. 31, 35, 37, 38, 42, and 44 and Sector F-8/3 streets no. 5, 6, 10, 11, and 17 will also remain sealed till further orders.

According to the notification, the decision to seal the streets has been taken to curb the rising Coronavirus cases. According to reports, due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in the Federal Capital, it was decided to close 12 more educational institutions. On the other hand, more than 36.32 million cases were reported worldwide in the last 24-hours. In addition, more than 9,000 deaths have been reported worldwide in the last 24-hours.

More than 179,000 Corona cases were reported in Italy, 72,000 in Turkey, more than 49,000 in Russia, and more than 400,000 cases were reported in France in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, more than 95,000 cases of Corona were reported in the UK, more than 335,000 cases of Corona were reported in India, more than 779,000 cases were reported in the US in 24 hours.
