Geneva, 19th July 2020: The pandemic coronavirus has overthrown a brutal economic system. UN Secretary-General said that the coronavirus has proved that a free economy is not a guarantee of health for all.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during his annual Nelson Mandela Lecture, lamented that COVID-19 had exposed the lie that people all over the world are in the same boat.

He said that the trend of multi-investment of developed and rich countries is only towards their own security and as a result, rich countries have failed to help the weaker countries in the current dangerous situation.

Antonio Guterres said the Corona epidemic exposed society’s weaknesses and exposed the world’s lies as rich countries set aside testing, treatment, and medicine.

Commenting on the current situation in the world, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that inequality in the world must be eliminated, which has become more apparent after the pandemic.

Pointing to the unbalanced and oppressive economic system that has become commonplace in the world, Antonio Guterres said that 26 of the world’s capitalists now own half of the world’s wealth.

Speaking to the media, Antonio Guterres called on all countries to make the coronavirus vaccine available to all countries.

Earlier, the UN Human Rights Council passed a resolution calling on all countries to have access to the vaccine.
