Coronavirus in Mumbai: 60-year-old COVID-19 patient commits suicide at Hospital in Andheri

India: A 60-year-old COVID-19 male patient has committed suicide at SevenHills Hospital in Andheri Mumbai on Saturday.

According to the MIDC police, the patient was admitted on the eight floor of the hospital. On Saturday morning, the doctors on their visit did not find the patient on his bed, thinking the patient might have gone somewhere the doctors moved on to inspect other patients. However, when he did not return even after 45 minutes, the doctors grew suspicious and they started to look for him.

While checking the terrace, they found his body hanging on the metal angle. He hung himself with a payjama said an officer. Police did not find a suicide note from him.

“Since the SevenHill hospital is a dedicated COVID-19 hospital, we cannot enter and neither we have access to any doctor. We are yet to contact his family as well,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 positive cases in the state of Maharashtra is inching towards the 20,000 mark. Mumbai, alone, has crossed 12,000 cases. The death toll in Mumbai stands at 462 on Saturday.
