Lahore, 15th May: Punjab government is likely to extend the lockdown that it imposed on account of increasing coronavirus cases in the province.

According to reports, the Punjab government will increase lockdown for another week in the province in order to curb the coronavirus cases.

As per reports, the Punjab government that started its lockdown before Eid from May 8, has decided to extend its lockdown from May 16 to May 24.

The provincial government is making the decision in order to further improve the situation in Punjab that has suffered the most during the third wave of the pandemic.

However, the final decision will be made after an important meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

It may be noted that restrictions imposed during Eid holidays are showing effective results, with the number of coronavirus cases and deaths decreasing on daily basis.

According to the latest data, less than 2,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Pakistan during the last 24 hours.

NCOC reported 83 deaths today taking the death toll to 19,467 in the country.

It is significant to mention that 783,480 patients have recovered from the coronavirus.

Punjab reports 324,589 cases and 9,322 deaths so far.
