Coronavirus: US Ambassador makes major announcement

Lahore (17th April, 2020): United State comes to Pakistan’s aid, as Ambassador makes major announcement.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, United States Ambassador, Paul Jones has said that the US is helping Pakistan with more than $1 million in new funding.

The US Ambassador said that United States is cooperating with Pakistan in spreading and caring for the victims of Coronavirus. The Pakistani authorities have considered the provision of all donations a priority. He added that these funds are being paid for by the US citizens with the intention to financially support relief activities.

It is to be noted that through donations of $1 million – including news labs, authorities will monitor laboratories to diagnose, treat and prevent the virus spread in Pakistan.

The US Ambassador further stated that the $1 million will be spent on centers equipped with the latest facilities and equipment to deal with medical emergencies in Pakistan’s capital territory, Islamabad as well as Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, respectively. While, two million US dollars have been earmarked to reduce the burden of hospitals, by enabling health departments, and community workers through training within their homes.

Under the UN High Commissioner, approximately $24 million has been provided to the Afghan refugees in Pakistan. It is to be noted that although US-Pakistan Cooperation in the health-sector has been rare, with more than 1.1 billion US dollars in health assistance the US administration has helped Pakistan in the last two decades. Moreover, the two countries have contributed $18.4 billion in various fields.

Jones further commented that he hopes, together we can defeat the deadly virus and save lives.
