According to Baaghi TV, the Sindh High Court has ordered that Arzoo Fatima, a girl married of her choice, be sent to Darulaman after converting to Islam.
The court directed the investigating officer to conduct an inquiry in the light of the Child Marriage Act. The court said that action should be taken in the light of the law on underage marriage. A report has been filed in the Sindh High Court regarding the age determination of Arzoo Fatima, a girl who converted to Islam and got married.
The case of Arzoo Fatima, who got married of her choice, was heard in the Sindh High Court. A report was submitted regarding the determination of the age of Arzoo Raja. The five-member medical board declared Arzoo’s age to be 14 to 15 years.
The court asked Arzoo, “Is there any pressure on you?” The girl replied that there was no pressure on her, she accepted Islam voluntarily and got married. The court again asked Arzoo, “Is there any pressure on you?” The girl replied that there was no pressure on her, she voluntarily converted to Islam and got married. Lawyer for Arzoo Fatima said that the girl has repeatedly said, there is no pressure on her, the court said that the girl has clearly said that she accepted Islam voluntarily.
According to the report, Arzoo is 14 to 15 years old. According to NADRA documents, Arzoo is 13 years old. At first glance, the aspirant could not get married, the court asked the girl, do you want to go with your parents or to Darulaman?
Arzoo cried in the court room and said that she would go with her husband or else she would die. The court directed the investigating officer to conduct an inquiry in the light of the Child Marriage Act. The court said that action should be taken in the light of the law on underage marriage. The court directed Arzoo to be transferred back to Darulaman, saying that Arzoo should be allowed to meet the people he wanted to meet.
Sindh High Court adjourned the case for two weeks.
It should be noted that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the Sindh government will approach the court to review the decision in the Arzoo Raja [Arzoo Fatima] case.
Bilawal said that if the esteemed court has any doubts in the Arzoo Raja case, the doubts will be removed. He said that every effort will be made to implement the law on early marriage.
On the other hand, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan says that the evidence shows that Arzoo Raja is young, her marriage and conversion have been forced. It falls into the category of violation of national laws.
It may be recalled that the Sindh High Court had stopped the police from arresting Arzoo Fatima’s husband, Ali Azhar and her family in the case of Arzoo Fatima, who voluntarily converted to Islam.
